Does SVC Partners only invest in Silicon Valley based companies?
We pursue high growth opportunities primarily located in Silicon Valley.
At what stage does SVC Partners invest?
SVC Partners is primarily focused on early-stage investment. However, due to
participation in subsequent funding rounds, we are likely to invest ~25% of our funds in
early-stage, ~50% of our funds in mid-stage, and remaining ~25% of our funds in later-stage
opportunities.
Does SVC Partners require a board seat?
Through our past experiences, we have found that we can contribute
the maximum level of value-added services through strong engagement. We seek board representation
where it makes sense, but may also participate in an advisory role.
Does SVC Partners require a controlling ownership in their investments?
No, we do not require a controlling interest in any of our portfolio companies.
We feel that the need for control is dependent upon many factors including the strength of the
existing board and management team, and the maturity of the business. We believe we can add
significant value while maintaining a minority interest, particularly with appropriate investment
terms.
What is SVC Partners' role after an investment is made?
We believe in actively partnering with management to achieve long-term capital
appreciation and maximum enterprise value. We will provide strategic, financial, technical,
sales/marketing, and operations assistance to each of our portfolio companies. We have a proven
hands-on investment methodology and our portfolio companies use us as a resource for information,
experience, and contacts.
How long does it take SVC Partners to make an investment decision?
We believe in committing to extensive due diligence prior to any investment.
However, we will work as expeditiously as possible in order to accommodate a prospective portfolio
company's timetable. We understand that each investment opportunity is a unique situation and
we will work to meet individual financing schedules.
How do I submit a business plan to SVC Partners? Do I need a referral?
Please send a copy of your executive summary and PowerPoint® presentation
to Dinesh Gupta or Paul
Getty. We will review your materials and contact you as promptly as possible. It is not necessary,
but it is always helpful, to be referred by a mutual friend or colleague.
